Cornets
Lead by the talented Luke on principal chair and ably supported by the award winning soloist John. Tracey and Heidi complete the first row, with Holly and Lee on rep. Ruth and Will are our seconds and Sally and Roy play third. We always find the right balance of playing and witticism to keep the conductor happy.
Tenor Horns and Percussion
The best section by a country mile, both in glittering personality and exquisite beauty. Shame about the playing though.
Our Percussionist Donna is the driving force of the band, the first one to leave and the last one to arrive. I think I got that the right way around.
Trombones, Euphoniums and Baritones
Denise, Nicki, Tim, Jonathan, Bronwen, Matt and his ‘trombone dad’ Terry. I wish we could all have a horn as snazzy as Denise’s silver and rose brass euph’ on the end. Usually playing the countermelodies or raucous accompaniments that sit somewhere between the tenor horns and the basses.
Basses
Ralph, Colin and Peter. I’d make the providing a lot of hot air joke, but they’re all incredibly humble and friendly, so that wouldn’t be fair.
